How to Tune In Using Various Players
The Housecast Sessions and other shows are occasionally broadcast live on DJ }Moose’s Internet Radio Station. It’s easy to tune into Radio }Moose from nearly any computer, but because we broadcast at quite high bit rates (the amount of data your computer has to receive every second to play the audio) you really need a broadband connection or better to listen. Even ISDN (single channel) is not enough for a 64Kb stream, and most broadcasts are 128Kb. There are many players available, and most operating systems such as Windows XP or Mac OS-X have built in players that work just fine.
To get you started straight away the DJ }Moose web team have put together an embedded radio player so you can listen in right from your browser (requires Java). This “Winamp” style player even has a graphic equalizer and will automatically start playing the stream as soon as it starts. Click here or use the link on the left to open the player (opens in a new window).
On a Windows PC which is most likely what you’ll have, you can use the built-in Windows Media Player. From the File menu, select “Open URL..” and type in the following (or cut and paste it from here):
You can also use Winamp or iTunes by clicking on this link:
The above link also works for iTunes and Audion on an Apple Mac computer, and for most Linux players such as XMMS. If you use Real Player on any platform, the following link is the one you want:
